Polestar has officially tripled its electric vehicle lineup with the launch of its latest electric coupe-SUV in Europe. Polestar is currently delivering the Polestar 4 in Europe and expects to start delivering the car in the North American and Australian markets before the end of 2024.
Polestar has begun delivering the first batch of Polestar 4 models to customers in Germany, Norway and Sweden, and the company will deliver the car to more European markets in the coming weeks.
As deliveries of the Polestar 4 begin in Europe, the electric carmaker is also expanding its production footprint. Polestar will start producing the Polestar 4 in South Korea in 2025, increasing its ability to deliver cars globally.
Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath also said: “Polestar 3 is on the road this summer, and Polestar 4 is the next important milestone we achieve in 2024. We will start deliveries of Polestar 4 in Europe and provide customers with more choices. "
Polestar 4 is a high-end electric coupe SUV that has the space of an SUV and the aerodynamic design of a coupe. It is specially built for the electric era.
The starting price of Polestar 4 in Europe is 63,200 euros (about 70,000 US dollars), and the cruising range under WLTP conditions is 379 miles (about 610 kilometers). Polestar claims that this new electric coupe SUV is its fastest production model to date.
Polestar 4 has a maximum power of 544 horsepower (400 kilowatts) and accelerates from zero to zero in just 3.8 seconds, which is almost the same as Tesla Model Y Performance's 3.7 seconds. Polestar 4 is available in dual-motor and single-motor versions, and both versions have a battery capacity of 100 kWh.
The Polestar 4 is expected to compete with high-end electric SUVs such as the Porsche Macan EV, BMW iX3 and Tesla's best-selling Model Y.
The Polestar 4 starts at $56,300 in the United States and has an EPA range of up to 300 miles (about 480 kilometers). Like Europe, Polestar 4 is available in the U.S. market in single-motor and dual-motor versions, with a maximum power of 544 horsepower.
By comparison, the Tesla Model Y starts at $44,990 and has an EPA maximum range of 320 miles; while Porsche's new electric version of the Macan starts at $75,300.
