A total of 82,407 vehicles were sold in Russia in June, with imports accounting for 53 per cent of the total, of which 38 per cent were official imports, almost all of which came from China, and 15 per cent from parallel imports.
According to Autostat, a Russian auto market analyst, a total of 82,407 cars were sold in Russia in June, up from 72,171 in May, and a 151.8 per cent jump from 32,731 in June last year. 53 per cent of the new cars sold in June 2023 were imported, more than double last year's 26 per cent. Of the imported cars sold, 38 per cent were officially imported, almost all from China, and another 15 per cent came from parallel imports.
In the first five months, China supplied 120,900 cars to Russia, accounting for 70.5 per cent of the total number of cars imported into Russia in the same period. This figure represents an increase of 86.7 per cent over the same period last year, a record high.
Due to the Russian-Ukrainian war as well as the world situation and other reasons, a huge turnaround will take place in 2022. Taking the current Russian market as an example, affected by the relevant reasons, foreign-funded automobile companies have ceased production in Russia or withdrawn their investments from the country, and a variety of factors such as the inability of local manufacturers to keep up with the demand as well as the reduction of buyers' purchasing power have made a major impact on the development of Russia's automobile industry.
