On July 4, GAC Aion announced that it had officially joined the Thailand Charging Alliance. The alliance is organized by the Thailand Electric Vehicle Association and is jointly established by 18 charging pile operators. It aims to promote the development of Thailand's new energy vehicle industry through collaborative construction of an efficient energy replenishment network.
Facing the electrification transformation, Thailand has previously set a goal to vigorously promote the development of electric vehicles by 2035. However, with the explosive growth in the sales and use of new energy electric vehicles in Thailand, problems such as insufficient number of charging piles, low power replenishment efficiency, and unreasonable charging pile network layout have become prominent.
In this regard, GAC Aian is collaborating with its subsidiary GAC Energy Company and many ecological partners to build an energy supplement ecosystem in Thailand. According to the plan, GAC Eon plans to build 25 charging stations in the Greater Bangkok area in 2024. By 2028, it plans to build 200 super charging networks with 1,000 piles in 100 cities across Thailand.
Since it officially landed in the Thai market in September last year, GAC Aian has been continuously deepening its layout in the Thai market over the past period of time. On May 7, the signing ceremony of the 185 Free Trade Zone Agreement of GAC Aion Thailand Factory was successfully held at the General Administration of Customs in Bangkok, Thailand, marking key progress in localized production in Thailand. On May 14, GAC Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was officially registered and established in Bangkok. It mainly focuses on new energy vehicle charging business, including charging station operations, import and export of charging piles, energy storage and photovoltaic products, household charging pile installation services, etc. .
On May 25, the Khon Kaen International Airport in Thailand held a delivery ceremony for 200 AION ES taxis (the first batch of 50 units). This is also GAC Aion’s first taxi in Thailand after the delivery of 500 AION ES taxis at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport in February. Another big order delivered. It is reported that because AION ES fully meets the needs of Airports of Thailand (AOT), it is expected to replace 1,000 fuel taxis locally by the end of the year.
Not only that, GAC Aion has also invested in and built its first overseas factory in Thailand, the Thai Smart Ecological Factory, which is about to be completed and put into production. In the future, the second-generation AION V, GAC Aion’s first global strategic model, will also roll off the assembly line at the factory.
In addition to Thailand, GAC Aian also plans to enter countries such as Qatar and Mexico in the second half of the year. At the same time, Haobin HT, Haobin SSR and other models will also be introduced into overseas markets one after another. In the next 1-2 years, GAC Aion plans to deploy seven major production and sales bases in Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, East Asia and other countries, and gradually realize global "research, production and sales integration."
