Ferrari sued by U.S. owner over brake defects

Ferrari is being sued by some car owners in the United States, claiming the Italian luxury sports car maker failed to repair a vehicle defect that could have caused the vehicle to partially or completely lose its braking ability, foreign media reported.
A class action lawsuit filed March 18 in federal court in San Diego shows that Ferrari’s recalls for brake fluid leaks in 2021 and 2022 were only a temporary measure and allowed Ferrari to continue selling thousands of vehicles with brake systems. Defects in cars.
The complaint filed by the plaintiffs alleges that the only solution was to replace the defective master cylinder when the leak was discovered. The complaint requires Ferrari to compensate owners for an undisclosed amount. “Ferrari was legally obligated to disclose the brake defect, a known safety defect, but the company failed to do so,” according to the complaint.

In a statement released on March 19, Ferrari did not respond specifically to the lawsuit but said its “overriding priority” was the safety and well-being of its drivers. Ferrari added: “We have always operated under strict safety and security guidelines to ensure that our vehicles always meet homologation specifications.”
The lawsuit is led by Iliya Nechev, a San Marcos, California, resident who purchased a 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia in 2020. Nechev said he “almost had an accident several times” due to a defective brake system, but the dealer said this was “normal” and he should “just get used to it.” He said he would not have purchased a Ferrari if he had known about the problems before purchasing.
Ferrari will recall brake systems in multiple countries including the United States and China starting in October 2021. The recall launched in the United States covers several models, including the 458 and 488 produced in the past two decades.
