Recently, according to the public account "Voltaplus", BYD's Fudi Battery disclosed the progress of all-solid-state batteries for the first time.
At the end of 2022, relevant media once exposed that the all-solid-state battery that BYD spent six years developing is about to be launched. At that time, the project was led by Ouyang Minggao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor of Tsinghua University, and three other academician consultants participated in the research and development work. It was a standard national key project.
According to data released at the time, the solid-state battery negative electrode uses silicon-based materials, and the energy density is expected to reach 400Wh/kg. After calculation, the energy density of solid-state batteries is more than twice that of BYD's blade batteries. In addition, its two technical routes, oxide solid-state batteries and sulfide solid-state batteries, have completed production and can be tested on vehicles.
However, it was not until recently that we heard about BYD's solid-state battery progress again.
In terms of solid-state battery costs, the overall material BOM cost is planned to be reduced by 20 to 30 times in 2027, and the manufacturing cost will be reduced by 30% to 50% by improving product yield + scale effect + process optimization, etc., and is expected to have a certain price Competitiveness.
